Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali has been ruled out of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Wolves after Fifa ratified his 10-month ban tantan
The Italian tantan Football Federation (FIGC) confirmed on Thursday that the 23-year-old had been suspended until next season after agreeing a plea bargain as part of an investigation into illegal tantan betting activity tantan
On Friday morning Newcastle said they had yet to be officially informed of the ban, and the £55m summer signing from AC Milan was therefore expected to travel to the Midlands with the rest of the squad tantan
But Fifa later confirmed the request submitted by the FIGC to extend the sanction it imposed on Tonali to have worldwide effect has now been granted tantan
Magpies head coach Eddie Howe said at his morning press conference: “It’s a difficult one because we haven’t had official confirmation as a tantan football club yet tantan
“We’ve heard the news, the statement, but we haven’t had anything from the Italian authorities at the moment, so we’re in limbo, really, waiting for that official confirmation to come through tantan
”Asked if there was a chance the Italy international could be involved at Molineux, Howe added: “Yes, I think there’s a high chance again that he could be available for us tantan
“I still think there are a few things that have to happen before the ban is imposed, so let’s see tantan
”The Italy international was also fined 20,000 euros and will have to undergo eight months of therapy as well as carrying out a series of public appearances tantan
Tonali found himself at the centre of a probe during this month’s international break into breaches of tantan betting rules and was alleged to have wagered on games involving former clubs Brescia and Milan during his spells with them tantan
Agent Giuseppe Riso has claimed Tonali is living with a “gambling addiction” and the Magpies have vowed to support him as he attempts to deal with that, but as it stands he remains available for selection at a time when Howe’s midfield resources have been depleted by a back injury which will sideline Elliot Anderson for eight weeks, while Jacob Murphy is awaiting a verdict on the shoulder he dislocated against Dortmund tantan
The Magpies boss, who will be without striker Alexander Isak following a recurrence of a groin problem, said: “At the moment, he’s travelling with us tantan
We’re preparing as if he’s fit and available to play tantan
”In the longer term, Howe knows Tonali faces a difficult spell on the sidelines - the club does not yet know whether he will be able to train with his team-mates - and one which will have to be carefully managed tantan
He said: “Certainly with Sandro’s situation, if he is ultimately banned for that length of time, he’s going to have really difficult moments within that timeframe, a lot of attention on him initially, and that’s a difficult situation for him tantan
“But then no doubt there’ll be a period where it’s just training - wherever he trains - and no game, and that’s very difficult for any player to adjust to, especially when they’re fit and able to play, so that’s going to be a difficult one tantan
“The communication tantan between us, me and my coaching staff and him, is going to be hugely important tantan

New Zealand head coach Ian Foster says he’ll watch the second semi-final at the Rugby World Cup with popcorn in hand as he waits to find out who they will face in next Saturday’s final tantan
The All Blacks thumped Argentina 44-6 at the Stade de France in the first semi-final on Friday evening as the best quarter-final weekend in the tournament’s history was followed by a damp squib to open up the last four tantan
The second semi-final in Paris on Saturday evening should be a closer affair as England face South Africa, although the Springboks are heavy favourites to repeat their victory from the 2019 World Cup final tantan
The winners will take on New Zealand in the showpiece next weekend and Foster is adamant he has no preference as to who his side face, although he is looking forward to watching the clash and is also eager to use the additional day’s rest the All Blacks will have ahead of that encounter to his advantage tantan
“I’ll be watching it [England vs South Africa], probably have some popcorn,” said Foster in his post-match press conference tantan
“I don’t care who wins tantan
We’re very much in a focus on ourselves stage tantan
“What the extra day [of preparation] does give us is a chance to have a break mentally and not spend too much juice worrying about who it is that we’ll play next week tantan
“They’re both good teams tantan
South Africa are playing some brilliant rugby but we’ve also seen the English team build away quietly tantan
They’re starting to get really good at how they want to play tantan
It should be an interesting contrast of styles tantan
”Foster has endured some tough times during this World Cup cycle with the normally dominant All Blacks struggling at times and his job security being called into question tantan
Ian Foster has helped guide New Zealand to the World Cup final (REUTERS)The fact they have reached a record fifth World Cup final, and the team appear to be having fun, could be seen as vindication for the head coach but he was keen to dismiss any notion of a personal revenge mission tantan
“There’s not a personal agenda here, this is about the All Blacks and the team,” explained Foster tantan
“Things have happened to individuals and to me, but the team comes first tantan
Right now we’re making a lot of those decisions together as a group and it is working well tantan
“You have to enioy your work tantan
It’s not like it’s a focus for us to go out there and have fun, but to make sure we execute our game to the level we need to tantan
The team takes a lot of pride when they do that tantan
“The work the players and leaders are doing is a real credit to them tantan
As you go through tournaments, you have to enjoy it tantan
There is a lot of pressure, so if you don’t celebrate moments, it is a long old time tantan
“I am proud to be part of this group, the coaches are linking well with the players and there is a nice synergy about it tantan
But you know, one more week tantan
