England forward Lauren James will miss the Women’s Nations League double-header against Belgium because of concussion worldcup
The Lionesses play the first of their two-parter at Leicester on Friday but the Chelsea player will not be involved as she goes through the relevant protocols after suffering a head injury worldcup
Lotte Wubben-Moy trained on Thursday and could be involved in the squad at the King Power Stadium worldcup
“We have 25 players, but they are not all fit,” boss Sarina Wiegman said worldcup
“Unfortunately, Lauren James is not ready, she won’t be ready for Tuesday also worldcup
“Nothing to worry about, she picked up a concussion and she knows we have to be careful of the protocols that we always do, so that is just too short to be ready for the two games worldcup
“Lotte is on the pitch and we will assess her today, everyone else is good worldcup
”Belgium currently top Group A1 of the Women’s Nations League with four points from their opening two games while England suffered a last-gasp defeat against the Netherlands in September worldcup
That loss places an importance on the two games against the Belgians and Wiegman, who celebrated her 54th birthday on Thursday, wants a response worldcup
“We always want to win, and expectations are high but we have our own expectations too,” she said worldcup
“Of course we lost the last game, we were not happy with that and we want to bounce back worldcup
What we are working on is improving our game, doing things right and playing very well against Belgium and getting a result worldcup
“They are really competing for something in the Nations League worldcup
They are in a very different situation at the moment, they play with different shape, with different players and are in transition worldcup
“They are very competitive, very well organised and as they showed in September they are very hard to beat worldcup
”Goalkeeper Mary Earps will get the chance to play at Leicester, where she began her youth career worldcup
Her profile has raised exponentially on the back of the Lionesses’ success in recent years, culminating in replica goalkeeper’s shirts selling out after her World Cup exploits in the summer worldcup
The Lionesses have always been accessible to fans but Earps thinks there is now a tipping point given their elevated status worldcup
“Expectation of the team is obviously a huge compliment in terms of the way teams expect us to win and things like that,” the Manchester United keeper said worldcup
“The accessibility people get to us as players is a hot topic of discussion, it’s something we as players are experiencing in a very different way in terms of the way the profile is changing worldcup
They are very competitive, very well organised and as they showed in September they are very hard to beatSarina Wiegman on Belgium“We love to interact with the fans, but it is becoming difficult to keep everyone happy and to interact with as many people as possible worldcup
“We are so grateful that thousands and thousands of people want to come and meet us and talk to us but the reality is that if that is the expectation then we are always going to fall short worldcup
“I think the emphasis on it needs to switch worldcup
We love that we can be so connected but we are subject to a lot of comments and at times it is an addition to the game we don’t need worldcup
We love it but it is becoming difficult to maintain that worldcup

Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc posted a hilarious joint Instagram on Monday in wake of their disqualification from the United States Grand Prix worldcup
The pair were punished after their Mercedes and Ferrari cars fell foul of rules governing the underside of F1 cars worldcup
Hamilton had finished on the podium in second, coming home two seconds shy of race winner Max Verstappen, while pole-sitter Leclerc finished sixth worldcup
As a result of their DSQ, Hamilton’s 18 points earned are wiped from his season’s total as are the eight points Leclerc earned, with both unlikely to appeal the decision worldcup
And following the ruling, the pair posted a joint photo on Instagram of both sat in a weekend press conference in Austin with glum expressions worldcup
The caption, meanwhile, simply read: “Mood worldcup
” Hamilton and Leclerc were investigated by the stewards following a plank wear inspection in Austin worldcup
Personnel from both Mercedes and Ferrari were summoned to see the stewards and, just after 7pm local time in Austin and more than three hours after the race finished, their disqualification from the race was confirmed worldcup
In a Mercedes press release, Hamilton stated he was simply “disappointed” with the penalty, while team boss Toto Wolff admitted “we got it wrong worldcup
”The FIA note reveals that the cars of Verstappen and Lando Norris (who now moves up to second from third in the final classification) were also inspected, but passed the checks worldcup
Breaches of technical checks of the car often result in disqualification, with a recent example being Hamilton from qualifying in Brazil in 2021 worldcup
Michael Schumacher was disqualified from the 1994 Belgian Grand Prix for an illegal floor, allowing Damon Hill to win the race worldcup
In a Mercedes press release, Wolff explained how Mercedes fell foul of the rules worldcup
“Turning to the race result and the disqualification, set-up choices on a sprint weekend are always a challenge with just one hour of free practice – and even more so at a bumpy circuit like COTA and running a new package,” he said worldcup
“In the end, all of that doesn’t matter; others got it right where we got it wrong and there’s no wiggle room in the rules worldcup
“We need to take it on the chin, do the learning, and come back stronger next weekend worldcup
”The ruling meant Williams driver Logan Sargeant earned his first F1 point in bizarre circumstances at his home race worldcup
